The White Tree of Gondor was the sacred symbol of a kingdom that endured long after it had every reason to collapse. It bore witness to the silence of a throne left empty for centuries, and it was still standing when the king finally returned. Planted first by Isildur himself from the line of the great tree of Tol Eressëa, it carried the memory of everything Gondor had once been, and everything it was still trying to become.
