The Marauder’s Map was a magical piece of parchment created by Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black and James Potter while they were students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The map showed every classroom, hallway and corner of the castle—and more: it also revealed all the secret passages hidden within its walls, as well as where each person in this vast complex was at that moment. It could identify each person, and was not fooled by animagi or Polyjuice Potions; even the Hogwarts ghosts were unable to escape its gaze.

It was a priceless tool for mischief-making, and the Marauders used it extensively to avoid teachers, sneak into off-limits areas, surprise each other and play tricks on fellow students.
